Create a stunning layout using patterned papers and the clever use of circles. Shapes are an easy way to create interest on a layout without breaking the bank or your budget. Use patterned papers in different ways to create interest and texture.

I had these two sheets of really beautiful patterned papers that were perfect for the themed layout, but once I started it really turned out to be too busy. So instead of using the sheet in their entirety I opted for cutting them down to break up the busy pattern.
Cardstock by Fabscraps & Prism. Patterned paper by Upikit International. Other: Diamantes, pearls, ribbon, printed tag, chipboard swirl, dimensional glaze & ink.

For the left side of my layout I used the bold red patterned paper that made my photos stand out. The printed strip of paper that houses my title is actually the menu that was printed with a bamboo design. I cut the menu down slightly to fit into my layout design and then added my title printed on the computer and matted onto plain red cardstock. When I added the second patterned paper it turned out to be too busy – so instead I cut the paper into different sized circles using the paper design itself as my guide. Some of the smaller designs on the paper were punched out of my paper using different sized circle punches and my circle cutter used for the bigger circles. To create interest I raised some of the circles to different heights using double sided foam tape. To repeat the red from the pattern on the left side I matted my photos onto a plain red cardstock showing them off nicely against my black background. The circles were decorated using red flat backed pearls and clear diamantes.

The large chipboard swirl on the left of my layout was inked using a black dye ink pad and then embossed using a detailed clear embossing powder to add some shine to it. A row of red diamantes following the curve of the swirl finishes it off nicely and adds some colour. To add some colour to the quiet space on the layout I added hand sewn crosses in white and rows of red diamantes.
