Tertiary Colour

Tertiary colours are the result of mixing a primary colour and its adjacent secondary colour together. Orange-yellow, orange-red, purple-red, green-blue and green-yellow are tertiary colours.

Thermal Embossing

Thermal embossing or heat embossing as it is also known is done by stamping an image using clear ink and applying embossing powder over the wet ink and then heating the powder with a heat gun until it has melted. This process forms a raised surface.


Short for 'Tagged Image File Format'. An uncompressed file best used when you need to capture small details. TIFF images take up lots of storage space on your computer.


Any colour can be tinted by simply adding white. Tinting basically refers to lighter shades of the primary colours.

A clear see-through material that can be used to add dimension or layer images.

Triadic Colour Scheme

Made up of three colours that are evenly spaced from each other on the colour wheel for instance red, green and purple.


The arrangement and appearance of printed matter such as a magazine article. Typography is the art and techniques of type design, modifying type glyphs, and arranging type. Type glyphs or characters are created and modified using a variety of illustration techniques. The arrangement of type is the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, line spacing and letter spacing.
