Create beautiful resist images on your layouts with pre-embossed papers and inks. For this layout we used only a portion of the embossed paper and sprayed it with silver ink to create a stunning effect.

For the layout I used an enlarged photo as the focal point of my layout, supported by three smaller landscape photos to the left and a portrait photo to the right for balance. The background is divided into sections and consists out of plain cardstock, patterned paper and an embossed paper that forms part of the technique used. The embossed paper is a large sheet but for this purpose I cut only a narrow strip to use on my layout. Remember that you don't always have to use products as they were intended – be creative and alter the way you use your products.

The silver smooch ink was sprayed over the embossed paper and forms a resist effect. To carry through the silver to the second page I sprayed some of the ink directly onto my patterned paper, as well as a book tab.

The embossed paper is white cardstock with a design embossed onto the cardstock in a clear ink. When you spray the cardstock with ink, or use distress inks to ink over the design the clear embossing forms a resist with the colour and makes the design stand out. Instead of buying pre-embossed papers or cardstock you can create your own. Simply emboss an image onto white cardstock using a clear embossing ink and clear embossing powder.
